(no subject)
So, apparently, my daemon is a crow-ish type thing... I don't have any problem with this diagnosis (birds are awesome), but it just doesn't strike me as the embodiment of my essential self... I just sort of figured on a mammal, I guess, something furry. Maybe I'm a sugar-glider! That would be sweet.
We were discussing such things at dinner last night, for my friends Courtney and Dan also love the "His Dark Materials" series. Some people are really easy: Courtney said Dan was a doe right off, and that seems perfect. Courtney balked when we said she was some kind of big cat, but I think it's right on.
When I was in college (before reading "His Dark Materials"), my friends and I would guess each other's "spirit animals," which was really just an excuse for my friend to make turtle faces at me. I'm lazy and slow, but I'm pretty sure I'm not a turtle. We'd also do food. I was dubbed and oreo cookie. Now I'd vote for fried oreo.
PS: If you are reading this and you haven't read the "His Dark Materials" series yet ("The Golden Compass," "The Subtle Knife," and "The Amber Spyglass") then you need to turn off your computer, get yourself to the nearest puveyor of books and clear your calendar for about a week. They are so freaking good. I might go home and re-read them right now.
