A few things:
Amelia is thrilled with school and can't wait to go back. She asked me, "Do you think I'll be the prettiest girl there?" I said, "probably, but anyone can be pretty. Try being the smartest." Her reply, "Okay, I'll start finding out how to do that." I couldn't help but laugh - I don't think I'll have to worry much about our little girl!
Ira sold our sailboat and we're looking for another one so that we're all ready to go next spring. We're kind of looking at houseboats and speed boats although Ira is pretty much leaning toward another sailboat.
Ira's dad is having a hard time dealing with his wife's (Ira's step-mom) death. He knows there's nothing anyone can say to make things easier - only time will heal, and it's only been a month. He's talking about leaving Florida each summer and staying with us for a few months. That would actually be nice - he's so cool - into ham radio like me (although I've really slacked off on my end with that) and he paints miniature figurines and enters them in competitions. He likes cycles and air balloons and is always ready for an adventure. Besides that, he's incredibly nice to be around.
A few months ago we acquired a miniature poodle. We bought her from a breeder up north when she was five months old. She's now ten and what a blast of energy. Anabelle and Mr. Snickers really bonded well with her. I had intended on naming her Rizzo - one of the "Pink Ladies" from Grease, but after a week with her, it was clear that would not work. Unlike Rizzo, who "Doesn't steal and doesn't lie," our puppy will steal anything she can get her paws on and then hide it so you don't know it's missing till you either step on a chew-ed up part of it, or actually need it.
The breeder called her Janel and her sister Janet - after Janet Jackson, because she was the wild one of the puppies. We can't imagine how much wilder a puppy can get to be honest. Anyway, because she was used to being called Janel, and because Rizzo just wouldn't work, we called her "Chanel" - short for "CoCo Chanel." I sometimes call her "Number Five" and she'll come running to me just the same!
Chanel is all black and as you can guess, most always in pink.
