Princess Minho sighs and strokes his long hair, letting it spill over the tower he was in. This was just another day for the Princess, seeing as he couldn’t really go anywhere. But the view was nice, and sometimes he could hear wood peckers…pecking wood and squirrels…squirreling and that was enough for him.
But sometimes it got lonely up in that tower, and the only person to keep him company was a dwarf who was given to him as a gift by one of the Great Fairies. This dwarf wasn’t a nasty, hairy dwarf but…… more like a shorter than average male that never aged.
His parents locked him in the tower because of a genetic problem he had been cursed with. You see, Minho had what some people would call……hairy legs. That was most definitely not an attribute the Princess of SHINee world should have.
It all goes back to when Princess Minho was born……
The scene of Minho combing his hair in the tower wavers and fades, a harp strumming in the background as the scene shifts and blurs.
A deep, voice over……voice guy who sounds old timey and like his parents considered naming him Greg but settled on Reginald begins to narrate over the softly strumming harp as the camera view swoops in over the Choi manor and through a window in the enormous palace.
On the throne were the king and queen, gazing lovingly at a sleeping baby in a crib not too far from them.
Ronald: It was almost 16 years ago -though not to this day, that the lovely and fair Choi Minjung was born. How he came to be “Minho” will soon be explained.
Everyone in the land was invited and t’was a most joyous occasion.
They made the mistake of not inviting a certain evil fairy, and we would think that the kings and queens would learn after knowing the consequences of not inviting the obviously malevolent fay to their revelries.
The first fairy, whose long brown hair was tied up into a strict bun, approaches the crib and smiles at the sight.
“Key, why are you wearing a dress? And is that a wig?” the Queen’s question goes unanswered as the first fairy smoothes out the wrinkles in his pink dress and picks at his nails, considering what gift he could give to this child.
“I give you the gift of being eye candy.” And he waves his wand over the crib, the King and Queen watching in awe as the sparkles the wand emits seep into the child’s skin.
Key steps away from the platform and the second fairy comes up, biting his lip nervously.
“I…give this child the gift of…fairy number three!”
“What the hell, Jinki!” the third fairy yells and the timid green fairy sheepishly gets off of the platform, his head down.
“I’m sorry; I panicked and didn’t know what to give her!” “So you give her me?? You can’t give fairies to people!”
“Sure you can, it happened to my evil cousin Navi!” another fairies voice cuts in and the short, blue fairy is about to give him a piece of his mind (and if the sharp-tongued Key had heard that he would have said “he doesn’t have that many pieces to spare in the first place”) when a loud bout of evil cackles cuts off the one sided argument and everyone looks at the source.
Oh, it was Taemin. Once he runs out of air for his laughter, he tugs at the neck of his shirt and walks in a crooked line over to where baby Minho was slumbering.
Before the King and Queen can apologize for his invite getting lost in the mail, which it truly had, Taemin is already cursing the poor child, “You will be cursed with forests of hair on your legs! And on your 16th birthday you will prick your finger with an…thorn…spindle-a spindle!”
The Queen recoils and covers her gaping mouth with her hands, tears welling in her eyes.
“No! Please! Anything but that!”
But the spell is already taking its effect, and they know it when the black magic seeps into the Princess’ skin.
If the Queen hadn’t been sitting, she would have collapsed, sobs wracking her body. Her daughter would be hairy, no one would marry her and the bloodline would end there!
Smirking, Taemin vanishes and the King looks around the room with desperate eyes, they eventually settle on the third fairy, who was sucking and biting on his wand nervously, not knowing if he could counteract the curse.
His face lights up and he steps on the platform, looking down at the poor child who would one day be hairy in the leg region.
Placing his pinky finger in the baby’s hand, he smiles warmly. This would solve everything.
“My dear Minjung, from now on you will be known as Minho, and you will become a boy-“ “NO!”
Minho’s mother shouts and stands up, though it was too late. The magic had worked and if they were to look under his little clothes, they would see he truly had become a boy.
And Minho had been locked in a spindle-less tower ever since. He sighs dramatically and clasps his hands together, slowly turning over to look at his dwarf who was staring at his own hand intently.
“I’m hungry, dear dwarf.” “Don’t call me that, I’m not- I’ll come back with something for you to eat, my fair Princess.” The dwarf bows exaggeratedly, though the Princess can’t tell the difference and just smiles and bids him farewell with a tiny wave of his hand.
“We can’t keep up this façade forever!” Jonghyun complains to his fellow fairy and the timid one merely nods sympathetically, too busy kneading the dough for his pizza to pay full attention to what the “dwarf” had to say.
“Jinki, do you hear me?? This is partly your fault, you know!” Jinki nods guiltily and his kneading falters. He was the one who had given Jonghyun to Minho, and he was also the one who had given away their hideout.
Because of his slip up Kibum was gone and he and Jonghyun were left to raise Princess Minho on his own.
“Jinki, my Lord. A letter from the King and Queen.” An older-than-he-should-be pageboy announces and bows. Jinki and Jonghyun look down at him and both arch their brows when they see a toasted golden scroll resting on a red velvet pillow in the pageboy’s extended arms, the golden tassels at the corners of the pillow quivering due to the pageboy’s nervous shaking.
“What’s it say?” once the pageboy leaves, Jonghyun leans over Jinki’s shoulder in an attempt to read the scroll. “Jinki?”
Jinki just stares at the scroll for a long time. “It says they’ve found Kibum.” Jonghyun looks delighted but stops smiling when he notes the worried look on his face. “What?” “We have to go to that world and get him.”
A/N: I have nothing left to say except that this is for my beloved irl bff of almost 6 years (wow, it's seem that long?)
