Updates!
Well I've really neglected livejournal. I'd like to get back in the habit of posting occasionally. I read my friends page everyday, and I miss hearing from most people who don't post anymore, so I just figured I'm part of the problem. If you do read this, post a reply, so I can see if I have non-posting friends out there who still read their friends pages (like I do). And I think we should make more of an effort to post, since we aren't great at keeping in touch via phone call or email.
Like my last post mentioned, I moved to Tyson's Corner, Virginia in August. I live across the street from work (Freddie Mac) which makes commuting a breeze. It also has a pool, which I love! I just recently bought 'real' furniture. I got a bedroom set. Of course, my living room is still pretty sparse, but I think I'll hold off until I have a more permanent living arranging (meaning until I own a place) before I spend more money on that stuff.
Now I think I should just do some general updates:
Work: First, I'm still an intern. And I've been an intern since last May. This is my largest complaint with the job. Otherwise, things at the job are going well, and I'm now given more responsibility and opportunities, which I really appreciate. I'd also say I'm quite pleased with the friends network I have developed. I don't really work on a day to day basis with that many people, but there is an employee led development group, called Rising Leaders, that I volunteer with quite frequently. This is where I've met most of my friends. I hosted a happy hour nearby on Thursday for one friend who is quitting, and then on Friday I went out to a 'fancy dress' party at a Moroccan restaurant with some of their friends. Also, my favorite intern from last summer, Lauren, (who I even went to visit in Paris in the fall) started on Monday, so I'm really excited to have her here working with me.
School: Yes, I'm still in school! (ugh). I'm ABD which means All But Dissertation. At this point I have proposed my dissertation, collected data for Study 1, and am currently designing Study 2. I still have to: collect data for Study 2, analyze the data from both studies, write up a results section for each, a discussion section for each, and then a general discussion section. I also have some more tweaking to do of my literature review, or the part that is the beginning of my paper. I tend to work on it in chunks. Like this week, I've probably spent at least 10 hours working on it. But previous to this week, I hadn't worked on it since early June.
Life: Life is fairly busy this summer, between Mohan & I we have a few weddings to go to. I've already gone to one in Iowa, and one in Belle Vernon, PA, and our next one is in Knoxville, TN in August. My mom is also coming to visit next week. Mohan and I have been dating now since September. He has his own LJ, although he hasn't updated it in years. I'm a bit surprised/pleased, but socially here I tend to hang out with the same people as I did in State College! My friends Toni & Jordan live here now, and another friend, Brendon is here for the summer doing an internship. Two friends from the psychology program at PSU, Jared & Jessica are moving down next week to Alexandria. They were probably two of my closest friends my first year in State College, so I'm excited to be able to hang out with them again.
Is there anything else I should be talking/updating about?
For those of you from Creighton - I just went back in May for my youngest sister's graduation. I also have Miz Franklin. She was a loud terror this morning, so I'm thinking of putting her back under the car where Rich found her.
