-8- Of Change Encounters and Fine Dining~
So things have become a bit more interesting than the last time I wrote in this journal. Markel warned me not to boast so much, because it might upset Sophie's feelings.. but I'm sure she would understand.
Markel and I went down to Market Chipping to select produce for Grandma Sophie's special dinner and saw a familiar face in the crowd. Markel finished up the produce selection while I excused myself and greeted the poor girl. She looked a bit stricken to see my face, but eventually the shock wore off and we had a bit of light conversation. She isn't just a pretty face, but has inherited brains to along with her looks. No wonder she was selected to be a Ravenclaw. The encounter was brief, but she seemed to want more than I had to offer and we went our separate ways again.
Dinner was delicious and even Grandma seemed to be pleased by the selection of vegetables. She tried to light up afterward, but I had to kindly ask her to put it out again. I guess old habits die hard. Sophie visited from the flower shop and I asked her to stay the evening. The evening winds have been kicking up as of lately and I know the cottage could use better heat ventilation, so... any excuse was worth trying.
Calficer cleaned up the scarps and after a well prepared bath, dressed my best and headed off to meet up with Lettie again. I arrived sooner than she expected, but she was very relieved to see I had come and with a gift. Her reaction to the daisies was mirthful and subjects quickly changed to topics about life, career and relationships. She seemed upset about the condition of my most favorite jacket and repaired it with a sense of urgency. No matter, because the conversation was most intriguing and I think I learned a few things to help Grandma Sophie reverse her curse. Now it's a matter of persuasion and timing.
