Why I want to be a writer.
Expression is the differance between a radical and a liberator. The differance between a hero or a villain. The art of writing is the art of expressing the views, beliefs and lives of not only fictional characters, but also the author's point of view as well as a mirror for society to reflect upon itself.
I want to write because I have a view that I feel needs to be expressed. A little a bout me to follow.
I come from a long line of communicators. On my father's side his father was a sports writer working in segregated Cleveland back in the fifties. He wrote for a daily newspaper with a flair for the descriptive I am told. He used the writing of sporting achievement to forward his own view of where black people were at and where we had the potential to go.
My father has in the last few years discovered a talent for preaching. He is a minister with his own church and even though he still has problems and issues, such as the total estrangement from his children, he still is able to get behind that pulpit and tell it like it should be at the very least.
My mother has been a teacher her entire life and not just the paid kind. She also raised three children on her own with only her faith, her unwavering love and her belief in the spirit of self sacrifice to see her through. She communicates with all the people she meets at a deep, completely loving level. She expresses what the world needs now, unyielding love.
My grandfather on my mother's side was also bitten by the proselizing bug and has been a minister for going on 30 plus years now. Every week he travels down to West Virginia and he pounds on the pulpit not preaching of hellfire and torment, but love and devotion.
I have a message that is being created as we speak. I have a view I need to get out there and I really think that I have soemthing to say about the human condition, the planet's condition and all those others that we share our lives with. I want to connect, I want to be free to write and still be a contributing member of society. I will make it. I will be a writer of consequence. High schoolers will be forced to read my award winning prose! Muhahahahaha.
Writing is freedom with restraint, orthodoxy with a hint of rebellion thrown in to taste. Writing allows one to make whole new mythos and worlds, or reflect, demolish or embellish an existing one.
I'm working on a project if working is thinking and thinking is hardly ever. It is a novel about an aspiring writer. It is basically a retelling of how I want to be discovered and treasured. it is going well if going is stallled and well is something you gather water from and splash around in with a fake radio walkie talkie get the entire town to think you fell down the hole and feel bad for you type of thing.
I will write everyday on this site to warm up my fingers and minds(a creative and logical) and I will let you all know how my wanna be publication is coming.
