Three days of down time for LJ, all caused by a massive DDoS attack. Unless I've lost count somewhere, this makes three major DDoS attacks on LJ since it was bought from Six Apart and offshored. Yes, I know, a large proportion of LJ users these days are Russian and Eastern European. But I fondly remember when I first started with LJ. Small operation, the owner was also the head developer and systems administrator, problems were few and far between and quickly resolved, and things just worked.
As much loyalty as I've shown LJ, the issues and their underlying causes make me think it's time for a change. I've started a
DreamWidth account and blog, although it'll probably be about as active as my LJ account has been lately *kicks self*. I know there's a way to move all my writing from one to the other, although I haven't figured it out yet myself; I may have to ask the right questions of the right people. I've got so much material written here that I'm loath to lose it.
The day's getting started without me, and I'm running on one cup of coffee so far. Time to separate my tuchus from the chair and join the morning.
*poof*
