One person airlifted to the trauma center, at least four others transported by ground to the same trauma center. And the pedestrian bridge had enough material knocked off it to require its closing and demolition.
Part of the highway is now closed. And it's at one of the worst possible times for local area tourism, because the State Fair opened today, and this highway is a major access route.
I already spent an hour in Dispatch assisting because of the call volume, the number of rigs tied up on this MCI*, and the general chaos incurred by having a trainee in Dispatch, all at the same time. But I still have errands to run this afternoon, so I've begged out of Dispatch for a little while, and I'm about to change into my "bicycle" clothes so I can get them done.
Tonight's Day 2. I REALLY hope it calms down.
