I decided to try firing up WoW again tonight.
Guess what I was greeted with?
"Downloading update, please stand by..."
ANOTHER 492MB. It claims 4 hours to complete.
If I'd known my first two days of attempting anything with WoW were going to be consumed by pulling software updates and patches...well, it's a good thing I only paid $2 for this. If this had been the full-blown version that needed this much updating before I could even attempt to play it, I would have canceled the update, pulled it back off the system and asked for my money back from the publisher -- I'm used to installing software that's fairly immediately usable, not software that needs a half DVD of updates before I can even get far enough into the game to generate a character.
This is starting to remind me of my irritation with SWG...irritation which led me to uninstall that one too, even though it looked very interesting.
Maybe I should just stick with Flight Simulator and Half-Life 2.
I'm going to bed, even though ALCS Game 7 isn't over with yet. I'll find out who won in the morning. But I still have to work tomorrow. I'll check on both when I get up.
'Night, all.
