patti was a great dog

i haven't known the brights without her. without pa-Atti, patti-cake, peekeek...without that doogie, things won't be quite the same. she was a very charismatic girl. when i first started visiting lauren, i was scared that she had dogs. i never had any real pets as a kid; my mom's excuse was that she's allergic to animal hair (dog, cat, you name it). so i wasn't sure how to act around them

every time i saw lauren, without fail, patti greeted me with heavy sniffing or barks (prolly following jenny's lead when lauren pretended to be an intruder). the point is, they welcomed me. i loved it. it's because of them - patti, especially - that i've fallen in love with animals. in fact, i want dogs of my own that are like her - a black lab or some sort of mix.

i'll list a few things that i remember about her. first off, she had the strangest pet personality that i've encountered. she follow you with her eyes oftentimes, 'stead of turning her head. it gave her a sly look...she'd show off the whites of her eyes. it was almost if she was giving you lip, too, like she was saying, "what'r'you lookin' at?" or "now, what'd you do that for?" kristen showed me how she'd chase after a flashlight beam. haha

patti was an inside dog, so she didn't smell bad at all. but pee-u, if you took her outside for "a walk," that mug could stink up an entire yard! jesus. i helped pick up at least a bag full of her poo once. ugh, that was an experience...thanks patti

she wasn't that fast, but she could still run. i hit tennis balls with the dogs once. lol she and jenny used to fight for possession over a short tree branch or a similarly shaped dog toy. it was cute to watch.

i helped her watch over her treat bits...she'd always crunch into them, breaking chunks onto the ground. i helped make sure jenny didn't steal 'em. she didn't do very many tricks for them, but she deserved treats nonetheless.

at first i couldn't tell lauren's two dogs apart. i had to look out for patti's fluffy tail, but as soon as i got to know you patti, you were unmistakable. you left a big pawprint on my heart. :) i'm glad i got to know you. thank you..i miss you. i love you. we'll all come find you someday.
