a small motorcycle accident.

Nov 19, 2007 02:50

on friday, i had a small motorcycle accident; nothing broken, and i am okay.

i even rode my bike to work the next day; damage is minor, just a slight bend to my handlebars, and some damage to my foot break. i was planning to modify a few things anyway, and this will only overlay where work was already going to be done.

as for my body, i have a badly bruised elbow, shoulder and thigh. the muscles are clearly bruised, and its posiible the bones are too. we'll see.

the accident occured when an asshole lady decided to make an illegal u-turn on a fairly blind curve on kennedy blvd. my options, not able to see her at all until it was too late, were to hit her or lay the bike down. so i laid the bike down.

thank god for my helmet; when i went down, my head impacted the road pretty hard, and thanks to the helmet, no pain, no injury.

the worst part of it all? the lady took off after she saw me get up. i was more worried about getting hit by a car from behind, so i did not get her plate. since she didn;t hit me, i'm not sure this qualifies as a hit and run anyway...

but i would like to see more active policing of bad drivers.

and people...i am not saying, "never use your cellphone". i am not saying, "never make an illegal u-turn". what i am saying, please, is to not take advatage of the road. use your turn signals, follow the rules, and when you aren;t following the rules, be quick and extra mindful.

it'll take a few days to heal up, as i am hurting. i apologize to everyone whom i had planned to see this weekend. trust me, i was really looking forward to the outings.
