My stories!!
The rules said it had to be 70 words long,(too damed short) a new twist to an old story; rewriting a scene. They're supposed to be funny... all 3...
I chose the first one for the contest.
A new twist to an old story: Don Quijote by Miguel de Cervantes, La Celestina by Fernando Rojas
For a Minute he Forgets Dulcinea
Don Quijote walked into the tavern with Sancho, who anxiously desired a drink of ale. An old wench was flirting, (quite vulgarly) with a few drunken gentlemen.
“Sancho,” said he “I must discover that fine young damsel’s name!”
Sancho located no damsel, but assumed he meant the prostitute with the half exposed buxoms.
He whispered the question to the barkeeper, who replied between mockish laughter.
“Her name, Sir, is Celestina.”
A new twist to an old story: Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, The Birthmark by Nathaniel Hawthorne
Men of Science
Victor rolled his eyes as the man nagged and complained.
“So you can’t revive her??” Victor shook is head in denial. The man cursed.
“I can’t do ANYTHING right! I finally get rid of that monstruosity on her face and she … dies on me.”
“That’s because you’re mediochre.” Victor chuckled cynically.
“Oh, forget you!”
The man left, and Victor was overjoyed, finding that the man had left his lovely corpse behind…
A new twist to an old story: The Lord of the Flies by William Golding
Chapter: Gift for the Darkness
The Temptation of Simon
In front of Simon, the Lord grinned from the stick upon which it was impaled. It spoke and the boy stared in awe.
“Silly little boy. You are the chosen one, yet you let them ridicule you. They are ignorant, don’t you agree?”
Simon moved his tongue but formed no words.
“They think you’re batty. Do you know you must do?
Kill them. Kill them -or die.”
Simon nodded.
Must go...
No time.
