Airports in Heaven

Aug 21, 2007 16:21

Airports, until the check-in point, are like life. One must wait in line and feel the pangs of mediocrity. At the front of the line, one is in, as the Catholics call it, Limbo. Fate has yet to be decided. One is certainly concerned that Gabriel, the gate-checker, will say “None for you.” After the check-in point, should admittance be allowed, the airport becomes a sort of Heaven, with McDonald’s restaurants, shopping facilities, and even hair barbers. Unfortunately, if one is in a hurry, Heaven is only the illusion until one hears the words, “Last call!” and must board a plane headed straight to Hell. It seems that even Heaven is fleeting.
