I've done a bit of searching around on Etsy for various things I thought maybe I could make and sell for a little extra money. The market is absolutely saturated. I wasn't thinking that I could make a living this way by any means, but it was a way to feed my desire to take back up some of my past crafting interests and make a little money from it because I certainly don't need the stuff I want to make if you know what I mean. Sure I can make a few things here and there for gifts, but the number of people I could give handmade gifts to who would appreciate it are very few. I'd really have to have a think about what skills I have in terms of crafting and where I can use them to fill a bit of a niche.
Things I can do/have done:
Knit
Photography
Simple beaded jewellery - earrings, necklaces, bracelets
Card making (not the cheesy kind with a million little stickers and whatever the hell it is they sell these days for cardmaking)
Cross-stitch
Basic embroidery
I thought I could translate some of these things and do some funky hand-embroidered things (handkerchiefs? wall hangings?) or knitted brooches or I dunno.
I think some place like Etsy just has too much of it. I'd probably do better by making a bunch of stuff and taking it to some craft faire.
Does anyone who reads this have any thoughts?
