I had a dream that I was on a beach in South Carolina. It was sandy and warm and sunny. There were tufts of grass and little hills where the sand stopped and the grass took over. There was a rectangular parking lot alongside the beach just after the grasses and the parking lot was worn and weathered and the painted lines were gone. There were crumbles and cracks about filling with sand from thousands of feet over just as many days.

There was a house, if you were facing the beach it would be on your left. It was an old house with two floors and a tower, victorian-ish...with a wood tile siding painted a blue-grey almost navy ship color, faded to a simple grey with chips revealing the darkened wood beneath. It had a long porch facing the beach that was set right about the grass line, so you would step down be in warm sand. The railing of the porch was a thick rounded wooden railing with beam/thingies that looked like bowling pins. The posts to the overhanging roof were slim with a ball and square at the top. The paint on all the rounded fixtures was splitting vertically as if someone had opened a hundred books and stood them up.

the sand was rippled in mini-dunes that were almost as energetic as the waves. The tide was coming in and the waves were becoming larger.

walking from the parking lot past the house you would find an old abandoned building, with only a crumbling foundation made of stone and cement, the corners held best. Weeds once grew well there, but when i saw it there were only a few scraggly remains of long-legged plants with woody stems and few leaves. much like a dead honey-suckle.

In the parking lot there was only a beat up volkswagon bus, that was once blue but was now patched in a deep brown rust, making it look like a big blue cow.

On the beach people were playing, tanning, talking, and walking. Each in their own colorful swim-gear with more elaborate towels.

On the porch was an old maroon sofa that looked very old-lady regal-esque, something you'd expect to have claw feet and be covered in the shipping plastic.

It sat without legs, and surprisingly dry. The arms were worn more than the seet cushions, as they too were used as seats when groups of friends ran out of room.

For some reason I knew there was always something good to drink there.

It was usually chilly in the morning, but it was the best time to take walks because everyone was sleeping, or waking up for other things.

on the far side of the parking lot there was a dense tangle of weeds brambly-bushes and trees, enough so a fence wasn't necessary.

the sand was orangey peach, probably because of the lighting..

there were poofy clouds in the sky and it wasnt always burningly sunny, but you never had to wait for the sun either.
