I'd go to UIUC over UMCP (provided you can afford it that is). It blows maryland out of the water for engineering (not that maryland's bad at all, just that UIUC is so good at it). I'm assuming you won't be spending too much time in a grad school anyway right? Masters usually only takes an extra year.

For me, my options were either a) go to UMCP and med school w/ everything financed by parents or b) go to WashU and med school and take out a full loan for the latter. I chose B (and many will say that it's not a wise choice) because I honestly think that these next four years are gonna shape you for the rest of your life. Yes, where you went to undergrad really doesn't matter in terms of careers and such, but I think that the environment where you studied is going to last with you for a very very long time.

I'd pick UIUC over CMU because I just don't think that CMU is worth an extra $100K over UIUC since you'll be getting about the same education from both and they're both out of state anyway and you'll be getting more or less the same experiences.
