05 It took me so long to find out, and I found out

Norrington was sitting in the Great Hall eating his dinner in a comfortable silence. This was the first meal he had taken in the Hall all day so he hadn't had a moment to look at the Daily Prophet until then. He sipped his pumpkin juice as he flipped through the pages, skimming articles about the Minister visiting Germany and the Chudley Cannons ( Read more... )

"They're alright, I just wasn't that hungry..."

Norrington still wasn't particularly hungry. He could see the way that DG looked at him and he wondered if it was safe or not. He wondered if she had the ability to shatter his heart into a million pieces.

DG smiles. "Well, I would have said I don't blame you. They're nasty little things."

Another strand of hair falls into her eyes. She releases a puff of air, and it flies up, but then falls right back inot her face again. It makes her laugh.

"It depends on how they're prepared..."

He laughs at her. "Not so effective, that.." Once again he pushes the hair behind her ear.

Norrington glanced out at the student body.. none of them were really paying attention, but he and DG really need to be more careful in front of the students, even though nothing was going on between them.

She shrugs a bit. "I don't really like vegitables... I can stomach peas with ketchup."

She grins, leaning up off of the table, before talking down to her plate. "May I have some scrambled eggs, please?"

Scrambled eggs came up through the plate less than a second later. DG thanks the house elves below. "Want some, Jim?" She offers.

"Jim? And no, thank you. Nobody's called me Jim in a while... not since my schoolmates."

She covers her mouth. "Oh, God, sorry... uh, I won't call you it if you don't like it. I guess it just slipped out."

He laughs. "I'm not offended, no... I do prefer to be called James. But since I'm fond of you DG, you can call me whatever you'd like."

"James. James, James, James." She repeats it to cement it into her head. She eats a forkful of eggs.

"Thanks, James." she grins. "I feel honored."

"Eh now you sound like my mum.." He puts on a higher pitched voice. "James how come you don't come to visit me anymore? Are you too busy with your life now, James?"

He smiles slyly at her. He loved to tease her.

DG screws up her face as if she's tasted something sour. "Oh God," she laughs, covering her face. "God, do I?"

She puts on the high voice too. "James, clean up your room!"

He bursts out laughing. "Wow you're actually not that far off.... I do love my mum though, she's a fantastic woman. We're very close."

DG grins. "Yeah? Really?"

She pushes some hair behind her ear. "It's a sign of a good man... that he likes his mum."

"Is it? I suppose you're right. So what's the sign of a good woman then?"

He turned to look at her.

DG thinks for a bit, before shrugging. "She's not afraid to get a little dirty when it needs to be done."

She pauses, before adding as an afterthought...

"That, and she eats."

He laughs. "I like that.. especially the eating part. So many women don't eat, it's quite unattractive..."

Norrington remembered how he would always chide Elizabeth for eating like a bird. She was too thin.

"My sister said that when she'd eat in front of a guy it meant you're comfortable with them." She shrugs. "But it's not true with all girls."
