(no subject)
It's been a very very strange emotional day today.
My aunt messaged me through Facebook today. We lost touch close to 30 years ago. Discovered she and family live about an hour and a half away from me now. :blink:
Just before Christmas, I discovered my cousin on Facebook (her youngest son). Sent him a friend request, he accepted, then I messaged him to make sure he knew who I was. He did. :D Anyway, been chatting here and there for the last few months, asking how the family was. He told me they had all moved up here to North Queensland while he stayed down in Victoria. Gave him my phone number and my mum's phone number (my aunt was my father's sister) but I never heard anything. Found out tonight via my mum that my aunt is quite ill and figured that's probably why. Anyway, she messaged me tonight on FB, and then she found my brother and my son via my FList and messaged them too. My brother freaked out - he rang me almost unable to speak, he was so excited. LOL. Trying to figure out how she had found him etc. Apparently I had forgotten to tell him that I had found one of our cousins and had been chatting to him.
Whoops.
LOL.
Anyway, I told him the story - that our aunt accepted the friend request I sent her last night and that was how and why she was messaging him and mum and my son. She's quite ill, not expected to last much longer. She's tying up loose ends, she told him, and has a heap of family photos she wants to give us. Of our father and grandmother (both dead).
And of course, my son was all "um, mum, who is this woman who just messaged me?". LOL. He's never met her so had no idea.
And then, going through her FList, I found my half-brother and half-sister. Who I haven't seen since they were babies. Born looooooooooong after me, to my father and his wife. So no contact with them at all - my father died about 20 years ago. I sent my sister a message through FB tonight, to see if she wanted to touch base and get in contact. I have no idea if she will. There's no love lost between me and my stepmother - although it was over 20 years ago so who knows...could have been because she's crazy, or because I was a teen and an idiot. I don't know. Whether she could have poisoned them against us, or not, I have no idea. It's a stab in the dark here, peeps. I have no idea what my sister and brother think about us, or even if they do.
So yeah. A very odd day. Emotional. Not sure how I'm feeling right now.
