Writing Formats Pondering

So, I've been using powerpoint so far with slides of between about 50 (back in the early days when I struggled to upload much more than that without the upload failing) to about 150 and it's been working relatively well. You know, except for a bit of picture quality loss, but meh, I could deal with that.

But I'm considering doing something different. I don't know if any of you guys read Leaths' Next to Nowhere/Barsoom Legacy, or Sim Goddess' Shadows and Blood, but basically what they've done lately is have kind of mini-updates (both in blog format) rather than proper big chapters (at least in one case due to time restraints). And I just think this might work better for me with upcoming things because it'll allow me to focus on the less central aspects here and there and dot around the neighbourhood a little where necessary (which is more likely with certain things planned). Plus, I can go back to updating little and often and probably more efficiently: it's a lot easier to get motivation and get something done when you know it's only a scene or two or three or something, rather than '-and then I have to do this bit, and then that bit, and then that, and then this, and then-', and while that might not matter so much while I'm on summer holidays, I am supposed to be doing two dissertations next year (>.< - although we know what I'm like when it comes to work), so knowing I can get something finished over a weekend or so and get back to work would probably be good, rather than convincing myself to finish 1/10th of a chapter at a time.

But at the same time, I'm concerned about doing such small bits and pieces unless they're a steady stream or are particularly memorable - not every little bit is likely to be that amazingly interesting (if at all *shifty*), though I suspect I'd self-consciously try to put in something of note in each one and adjust to what seems to work and not, learning and all that. I'd probably put it on here, maybe make a new account, or maybe a wordpress thing or something, given how I never planned my tags and so they're a bit jumbled and unhelpful...

I don't know, but I'd like to know what people think - I know some people don't like blog formats, and maybe there's a minimum limit of how short a bit can be before people just think it's not worth the hassle of reading. And, if people do think it might work, please volunteer any suggestions as to what you might want me to do/avoid in terms of formatting or whatever: I'd still like it to be as easy to read as possible for as many people as possible.

Edit for moar thinking:
And rather than update my legacy thread everytime I put up a bit, I'd publish every bit when I finish it, but only update the legacy thread when I've gotten to a bit that would have been where the chapter would finish. So anyone who doesn't want to mess around reading a few scenes at a time can just wait until then, and those who are willing/able/bored and following my LJ/new account can read the bits as they come up, and maybe comment on those instead... Plus I can do more effective warnings for bad language/scenes, rather than having to blanket cover a whole chapter for villains appearing in one bit of it.

ponderings, ryman
