Yeah, I'm a bit absent at the minute, but I'm trying to get my game sorted and I'm having this issue that is really, really bugging me.
So, my new laptop is all nice and new and shiny and fast and it runs the sims just fine- but the graphics. Practically everything is up to its highest settings and is running easily and the shadows look like real actual shadows and don't mess up on me and stuff like that, so that's all good. But THE EDGES. Grrrrraaaaarrrgh. I haven't checked what the settings were on my last laptop, but I swear the edges looked so much better, now they're all jagged. And there's that slider thing for edge smoothing, but it's greyed out. How?! WHY?! This laptop was created years after the sims is finished, how is it not capable of smoothing some freaking edges?!
And the thing is that this bothers me a lot more than shadows or reflections and all that jazz because it's not necessarily integral and can be avoidable, but the jagged edges are on the sims themselves. It makes them look so much faker and I can't avoid seeing it. To be fair, I'm not certain that it would come across in the snapshots, but it looks hideous on my screen at the least. Why can't I make it look better? Why is there a slider I can't use?! GRRRAAAAAAAARGH.
Hopefully normal running will resume again soon. Once I get a normal sleep pattern and watch two more series of Supernatural - because I get too absorbed in things and have to finish them.
Other complaints, while I'm at it:
- University internet connection still massively sucks.
- My laptop randomly switched the " and @ buttons earlier. It's switched back again, but I have no idea why in either case.
- My laptop is refusing to connect to the iTunes store despite the fact that my internet and network connections are blatantly fine. It's just lucky I have speakers for my iPod, but it's still very annoying.
