Other: Many a generation ago now. Poor Marina.
"And where are you two going?" their mother called suspiciously from the kitchen.
Sara rolled her eyes at Seth and answered, "Don't worry, we're only going out to meet May and Tiana."
"Oh good," she said, sounding pleased for once in their lives. But then she added "Take Brendan with you."
Seth groaned. "Muuuuuuum! We don't want to have to drag a dorky little brother around!"
Their mum frowned and opened her mouth to argue, but was cut off by Sara bursting out laughing. They both looked at her, confused.
"Welcome to my world!"
Seth's face struggled to decide between frowning and pouting. "Hey, I'm not a dorky little brother!"
Sara laughed harder, "No, you are the dorky little brother! Worse than Brendan!"
"No I'm not!"
"Actually I've been figuring out an equation for dorkyness, like maybe the dorkiness of a younger sibling is inversely proportional to how much younger than you they are. Because Brendan's more of a dweeb than a dork, and Cindy and Haley are brats-"
"Sara!" Their mother cut in disapprovingly.
"And you, little brother, are the dorkiest dork to ever dork," she laughed and ruffled up his hair while he tried to pull away.
"Yeah, well... you're a bitch-!"
"SETH NERY JAYAPALAN!"
Sara smirked, "But that doesn't mean I don't like you. In an older sisterly way."
Seth couldn't fight the smile, even as he fixed his hair. "And I guess I like you. In a dorky-younger-brotherly way."
"Yup. Now come on, let's go."
Seth rolled his eyes and followed her out the door and across the garden. "May and Tiana don't think I'm a dork."
Sara just laughed, answer apparent.
They completely forgot about the outraged and dumbstruck mother they'd left behind until the angry shout, "Hey, you forgot Brendan!"
"Run?"
"Run."
