Adventures in crash-causing downloads!

So I've actually kind of had a problem for a while in my game, though I wasn't quite sure exactly how long for. I was playing a non-Ryman neighbourhood and finding appropriate lots for the theme, but nearly all the lots I would download and try to load would crash on the fourth loading strip. But then why I tried one of the Maxis lots it would do the same, which was weird. Couldn't be bothered to figure it out though, so I forgot about it for a while.

Until today, when I decided I quite wanted to do Christmas cards like Di's doing with her sims. Being that all I have at the minute is a staging neighbourhood due to my main one being corrupted, not all of my sims are actually where they're theoretically living, so I tried moving Lydia into The House of Fallen Leaves, where she's supposed to be living with the other vampires and her growing family, but the game crashed on the recognisable fourth strip. I probably should have left it since I don't actually need to shoot there yet (if at all any time soon), but otherwise I'd have to be staging my next chapter part which is long and conversation-y and thereby a bit difficult and I didn't feel like that, so I have just gone all the way through my downloads folder tracking down the culprit of my game crashing. It took me about 6 hours.

'course it turned out to be among the files that were completely unorganised due to either being downloaded before I started the whole organisation thing, or coming with lots or something. I assumed it was probably one of those ones with names like b756thdbeukd85663jbfr.package because who the heck even knows what they are, but no! You know what it was?
edta-medievalcupboard2.package
Yeeeeeah. I assume it's just some unintentional mistake given that it's labelled and all, but it's really weird. Why? Because that's not the only edta file I have, and the others were perfectly fine in that respect. In fact, I have edta-medievalcupboard1.package and even that's fine! Like, really, what the heck is wrong with that particular medieval cupboard?! I don't know. But it's gone now and I can load at least that lot again, I'll find out about the others another time.

Another thing I learnt? OMG MY GAME LOADS SO FREAKING FAST WITHOUT DOWNLOADS OMGOMG ;~~~~;
I may have to start a separate neighbourhood where I play without them and just marvel at the speed of it all *.*
