Today I had to take Kidling M for her orthodontist evaluation. It has been a forgone conclusion that she was going to need braces and that we were going to have to have a couple of teeth extracted. UMHB had them forever, even going through that whole palate expansion torture, only to 'lose' her retainers forever, without telling anyone, leaving it all for nought.
The Senior's poor little teeth were so bad that her phase I braces went on when she was in 4th grade. She had a brief respite between phases and was braces-free for junior high, only to start phase II when she started high school. Phase II has included a particularly torturous device called a Herbst Appliance. Google it and hope your Kidling doesn't ever need one. Let's just say it is hydraulics that keep constant pressure on the bottom/top jaw...like headgear 24/7. She needed this because her bottom jaw was so much smaller than her top.
Did I mention that she still has braces? I am beginning to think she will go to college with them, though she swears if they don't come off before then, she's taking them off herself before she leaves.
I'm pretty sure we have put at least 3 of Dr. Stewart's kids through college at this point.

And Kidling D needs braces too but her's wont involve extractions and all that mess. Thankfully!
