A couple of tantrum addendums
Actually, clarifying what wasn't part of the tantrum.
Number 1: fennel and my relationship with him had no part in triggering or prolonging the tantrum.
Number 2: The post about buttons and buzzers also had nothing to do with the tantrum. It was actually about depressive realism and the original experiments which discovered the (supposed) phenomenon, which I hope to have time to say more about later. For now, I'll just say that reading a summary of the experiments elsewhere misled me -- I thought that the subjects were directed to always press the button, and it turns out that they had the choice whether to press it or not, so they did have the opportunity to test what happened if they didn't press it (as many of you asked about). Still, I'd love to see the numbers from the original experiment and whether there was a statistical difference between the depressives and non-depressives when it came to choosing to press the button.
