Seriously, I love the modern world (aka: I found the perfect sandals)

I have problem feet. No, really! They're delicate flowers.

This is an issue when buying shoes -- most shoes on the planet will take the skin off my flesh in one spot or another with 15 minutes of walking outside, even when wearing socks. Ninety-nine percent of shoes on the planet will take skin off within 15 minutes if I'm not wearing socks, which is obviously a problem when the weather turns warmer. I don't know where I would have been without foot tubes.

This is why I love Zappos. I can't tell if shoes are going to hurt me from the few minutes I can spend walking around a shoe store in them. Being able to walk around my house in them for a whole evening -- or even take them to the mall and try them out there -- has been fantastic (I walk very differently "outside" in a mall than I do at home, and it more closely approximates my walk when truly outside).

That's why I'm so excited that in the most recent batch, I found a pair that I can apparently* wear without anything else on my feet. I mean, sure, I had to stick moleskin on part of the foot bed, but hey, that's pretty minor when it comes to making shoes work on my feet. Zappos no longer had them available, but through the magic of Google shopping, I was able to order two more pairs from another store to have in reserve when these wear out.

(In case anyone's curious, the shoe itself is the Bass Anthem sandal -- in black, natch. If you want a pair yourself, better act fast, because they seem to be discontinued and going quickly.)

*I say "apparently" because they passed the test of walking to the subway without damaging me, which most shoes don't, but I have yet to test them with a walk of longer than fifteen minutes.
