TCE in NYC, one more time
The Best Band on the Planet, aka The Cat Empire, is releasing a new album soon. The last album was somewhat disappointing -- they're going in a new direction, which is one that I theoretically appreciate, but they're not quite there yet. Apparently it was so disappointing that, even though rednikki and fennel both sent me links to their new single, I couldn't be much bothered to go look it up until a few days ago. It's okay, much in the same vein as the last album.
They're also about to tour North America -- mostly Canada, although their most recent newsletter promised more dates in the US (tour dates, for the curious). And indeed, they've added on in NYC since I last looked. On my birthday eve eve! Yay!
Ben the Philosopher had very sweetly volunteered to drive up to Montreal for the August 1 show with me; I imagine he'll appreciate the shorter drive and lack of international border crossing. Extra bonus: the show is at Webster Hall in Union Square, which means dinner at City Bakery.
