Fact: Russell T. Davies is leaving the helm of Doctor Who at the end of 2009.
Fact: Diederick Santer is leaving the helm of Eastenders in February, 2010.
Rank speculation: Russell T. Davies will take his place. After all, it's clear he loves soap operas and particularly Eastenders (if I had the time, it might be fun to go through and list every episode of the new series that had an Eastenders actor in it or an Eastenders reference*; I suspect it's the majority). And that increases the odds of a second Doctor-Who/Eastenders crossover episode by rather a lot...
*"Did you have to say that? 'There's no turning back?' That's almost as bad as 'Nothing could possibly go wrong' or 'This'll be the best Christmas Walford's ever had**.'"
**It's true, this is a particularly bad thing to say in Walford***. Almost as bad as "Our wedding will be perfect, I promise."
***Although, come to think of it, it's not a very high bar. I mean, if no one dies, you're like halfway there...
