So, I'm also the furthest thing from a professional music teacher, artist, producer... Anything. But I base my opinions on what I personally hear with my own ears, see with my eyes and what I feel when I listen to the music. Annnd you pretty much read my mind here.

In my opinion, there were SO MANY groups with awesome bassists the other night and with the challenges that they were given this week, you were really able to tell for once. The bassists definitely got their moment to shine, especially in Groove For Thought (THAT WASN'T A TRACK, WUT?), Jerry Lawson & The Talk of the Town and Street Corner Syphony.

And the latter two? Absolutely, blow-my-mind amazing this week. My love for SCS went up like, ten levels when I heard their cover of "Creep". I was about to turn the TV off and watch the rest of the show on demand later, but as soon as they started singing, I had to sit down and watch the whole thing. Seriously, that was just... Ajkgfj. It had so much emotion and Jeremy hit all of the notes perfectly. Especially the part, you know, towards the end of the song where they sing "She's running out again"? Yeah, that. That is a MAJOR plus for me because I'm obsessed with the song and any time someone messes it up (especially that part), I want to cry a little.
Vocal-wise, the only other musician I've heard sing a cover of "Creep" that well is Stephen Christian from Anberlin.

AND "Come on Eileen" WAS ALL SORTS OF BEAUTIFUL. Their harmonies and tempos and the stage presence and HOW DO THEY MAKE IT SEEM SO EASY? GUH.

I really hope it gets down to them and The Talk of the Town because honestly, those are the only two that I'm really feeling right now. The others are talented, it's impossible to take that away from the, but they don't have that 'Wow!' factor to them, imo. I know that's so typical to say but like you said, Commited doesn't have the stage presence for it at all. I like their vocals, and if they came out with an album then I could possibly listen to it, but whenever I watch them... I'll be honest, I get bored. There's just something about them. The Backbeats don't have enough emotion, however that could always change so I'll give them a chance. And On The Rocks are great, but I don't think they're great enough to win the whole thing.

Oh gosh, I feel like I'm being so... Negative all of the sudden. :l BUT UHH, THE TALK OF THE TOWN MAKES ME FEEL LIKE I TIME TRAVELLED BACK TO THE '60S AND '70S AND I KINDA LOVE IT. A LOT A LOT. AND THEY'RE SO SWEET AND TALENTED AND ~CLASSY~.

AND NGL, BEN FOLDS IS SO AWESOME THAT SOMETIMES I ACCIDENTALLY TUNE OUT THE OTHER JUDGES BECAUSE I'M TOO DISTRACTED BY HIM AND HIS LOVELY HAIR. < 3
