If you're planning on seeing Pirates4, and want squick/trigger warnings, read this.
Okay, this is my spoilery warnings for Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. This thing is gonna be a quick go-over of the potentially quicky bits that people might want to duck for, that don't impact the plot. Well, the first one does, but not significantly
Shootings and stabbings are a given, so I'm not gonna address that.
I ducked for when the fake killing the missionary, so I don't know how squicky it was. I suggest arbitrarily ducking when he gets grabbed and I think forced to his knees- it'll be safe to look when he hits the ground.
We see blow-darts sticking out of a couple people, but they didn't make a big deal out of it.
If you could handle the Black Pearl's crew from the first movie, you can handle the man brought up by the fishers, Ponce de Leon in his bed, and the moment when they finally get the fountain to work.
No one gets hanged, but some people do get threatened with it.
We see the pain-reaction from the voodoo doll, but the cuts aren't shown until after.
The rigging just grabs people, it doesn't kill anyone.
When that one dude gets sent out on a dingy, they don't show him burning, just the boat.
Audio-sensitive people will want to plug their ears for the two mermaid-cove scenes, but you don't need to until the singing one reaches for the guy in the dinghy, which is shortly after the shot from under the water of the outline of them around the boat.
The mermaids snap their teeth and use long-ranch...tentacle-guns? to grab people, but don't actually eat them. They're just biting to get a hold of sailors, not take chunks out. They do, however, drag them down to the depths never to be seen again.
I just tell myself the mermaids just gave all the sailors a Big Kiss And Took Them To An Awesome Party That Was Just So Awesome No One Bothers To Come Back and everyone just assumes they're dead. And for some reason the mermaids never bother to correct this assumption.
The mermaid in the box is briefly gasping for air, but don't worry she gets air in swift good time.
