Ok, here's ONE aspect of 'liscensing and regulating' that I see a major problem with, the proposal to deny guns to anyone who is 'mentally ill'.
It sounds good in theory, but can you give me an exact definition of the term 'mentally ill'? The human species varies a great deal, mentally, and without an exact definition, which neither you nor anyone else can give, the government can and will define 'mentally ill' to mean anything they want, ranging from Aspberger's syndrome, to someone depressed over their wife dying, to someone with the 'wrong' political beliefs.
btw, we already have laws preventing those who have actually done violent acts (felons) from getting guns. Laws regarding preventing those who are 'mentally ill' because they MIGHT be violent in the future from getting guns is tyrannical nonsense, and violates the principal of innocent until found guilty. By such a standard, we should cut the penis off all men, since they MIGHT commit rape with it, and we really don't need men to have a penis in a 'modern' society anyways, since artificial insemination is an easy and proven means of reproducing.
Not to mention that once you require a license, you can then raise the fee of that license to a point where a lot of people can't afford it.
There's an amendment about religion, too, but neither of us got married without a license. Doesn't matter which religion or if it's a JP wedding, you need a license - is that interfering with your freedom, too?
As a matter of fact, it is. I don't need some self-appointed third party telling me who I can and can't have a relationship with. Nor am I so confused about my own mental state that I need said third parties to 'validate' my relationships in order to be sure that they actually exist.
