...As the song lyric goes.
I haven't dropped off the face of the earth, just been too busy to do much besides stare at the computer when I get to spend time in front of it.
However I'd like to share a couple of interesting food and drink things from today. Good things, not bad ones.
My work is 90% Latina, and my supervisor Pita once again brought in her daughter Natalie to work, since her school doesn't start until next week. This morning apparently they had trouble getting out of the house because they brought stuff to make pancakes with them, and made some for everyone. The interesting part is that along with 'Pancake Syrup' they offered "La Lechera" which is a Nestle brand sweetened condensed milk. The weird thing was that it was in a squeeze bottle as pictured here:
I'd never run into sweetened condensed milk in anything other than cans in the baking section before. However I can definitely say that it's good on pancakes!
On my way home from work I decided to treat myself to a real Coca-Cola. The Famina convenience store near my work stocks the Coke that is bottled in Mexico, which is made with real sugar, NOT corn syrup. This is what I remember Coke tasting like when I was a kid! The fascinating thing for me is that a 12 oz bottle of Coke with sugar is enough for me to share. I could easily be satisfied with a 6-8 oz serving.
Just shows what a difference there is between sugar and high-fructose corn syrup. I really should avoid the corn syrup!
