I applaud you for telling him like it is. I said months ago that for all his political sound and fury and plagiarisms from other sources that he most likely either wasn't registered or wouldn't bother getting off his fat ass to vote in this most vital of elections for both the nation and for Californians.

I hate being right sometimes. Again, kudos to you for letting him know that giving in to his bizarro phobias and whims was in no ones best interest.

I never understood his motivation or reasoning here, though I truly doubt anyone can reason his/her way out of such a comment.

I gave him the benefit of the doubt, which was my mistake.

Well, welcome to my little Kool-Aid stand, and I'm sorry that you lost someone you considered a friend, regardless of my opinion of them.

ETA: The fact that he's considering HIV/AIDS to be solely a homosexual problem reflects more on his personal biases. He's said more than a few nasty things about various gay LJ users, and knows nothing about my own proclivities to be calling me homophobic. I'd still rather suffer through any kind of debilitating disease than have him granted an iota of credibility; but he's doing more than enough to dig his own grave with his self-aggrandizing apathy.
