Jesus Christ Superstar-OST
I was around seven years old when my aunts and uncles took me to see the movie. I was so moved and I couldn't understand then why. It was years later that I learned of the reason; after several years of playing the official soundtrack come lent week, I realized what a crazy soundtrack this is. Jesus Christ was upstaged by Judas in vocal showdowns.
Ted Neeley is still touring as JC. Carl Anderson died in 2004. Corey Glover is touring with Neeley, playing the role of Judas. Anderson will sadly be remembered by most pinoys for his brainfart of a song 'Friends and Lovers' than his Motown classics and works with Stevie Wonder.
Rush- OST
I watched the movie because of Jennifer Jason Leigh. I also recognized that guy from Lost Boys, wondering how he'd do in a dramatic role. Anyway, I remember it being sad and tragic. The soundtrack caught my ear as well. When I learned it was Eric Clapton who scored it, I had to get it. I still listen to this once in a while and I remember the days when I wanted to be God.
Icehouse-Man of Colours
Ah, the 80s. I remember me and the old man going to trips to Manila from Laguna and browsing thru record stores. I caught sight of a compilation with the song 'No Promises' and I really loved it. My dad bought it and I listened to it over and over again. I asked my cousin in the US to buy me a copy of the album. 'No Promises' isn't here, but I listened to the whole album over and over again.
Damn Yankees-Damn Yankees
Two words- High. Enough. I lost the cassette copy a long time ago, and i swear, to this day, I still dream of finding it hidden in a stash somewhere and feeling giddy that I got it back. And then I wake up. And I heard it done by Jazz, Echo, Joey and Justin (or was it Chino?) and I thought I was dreaming that dream. I love Tommy Shaw's playing. Hecan rip it up with the best of 'em. But the Nuge takes centerstage on this project.
