Movie Review: Dog Soldiers

Sadly Krista was under the weather last night and couldn't make it, so it was only Mary & I. Last night's film was Dog Soldiers, and this was either my 3rd or 4th time seeing it. Do not let the name make you wince! This is a fine film! We had to split the rating on it though. For a Werewolf movie it gets 5 out of 5 corpses. For a horror film it gets 4 out of 5 corpses.

This is simply one of the best werewolf films to come out in a very long time. It's well written, doesn't waste any scenes, and almost every little thing you see in the film becomes relevant at some point. Although it didn't have a huge budget, the special effects are pretty good. The characters are also really good and interact well. This is a fast paced film that doesn't really ever let you rest, and to prove it you have a killing in the first 2 minutes. The only "drawback" of the film are the accents. It's purely from the British Isles, so some of the slang and accents are a little tough to get around. Even with that Mary & I both highly recommend this film!

The only hint I'll give you is about the title. Dog Soldiers are men who are considered to be totally expendable, bait for a trap, and cannon fodder.

If you are looking for a good werewolf film, Dog Soldiers is a very good bet.
