A look at the last half of Return to Bad Wolf Bay, as the scene should now be called just as Rose finds out exactly how the Doctor wanted to finish that sentence. "Rose Tyler..."

Slight angst, Definite fluff.

“Rose Tyler…”

The Doctor in a blue jacket leaned down and whispered the three little words that finished a sentence that started nearly five years ago from Rose’s point of view. Her hands grasped at his collar and pulled him into her almost instantly and the Doctor realized the great possibilities of being human, finally kissing the woman he loved in the middle of a beach not being the least of them.

Rose’s back arched against him and this new one-hearted body leaned forward even more. Hands were everywhere, holding and clutching. So involved, they didn’t realize that the original Doctor was already in the TARDIS until its engine started and Rose broke away.

He didn’t know the feeling he felt quite at that time. He felt it before to a certain extent: jealousy and insecurity when Rose looked at someone else, but this was entirely different and another set of awful possibilities revealed themselves to the new Doctor, the crushing rejection of Rose never accepting being the worst of them.

The Doctor knew that she chose him because he’s the one who can give her what she wants. That it might take awhile but she would realize that he was still the same Doctor, an odd combination of his ninth and tenth regeneration. Differences were present, Donna’s DNA being one of them, but she would learn to love them as well… wouldn’t she?

She still wasn’t turning back to him and the insecurity increased tenfold. He stepped forward and took her hand staring as his thumb lightly went across the smooth skin. They both stared at the TARDIS until it disappeared. Then, with a light squeeze at the hands, Doctor looked at Rose and she looked back. There was still a sadness there and doubt and hesitation but his other hand went to her cheek.

“I’m still me. Just New New New Doctor,” he said trying to make her smile. The ends of her lips started to rise and he grinned, something he knew she would take to since it would be familiar to her. “That’s more like it, a bit of a smile.”

The words echoed Rose’s words from that  day in Canary Wharf and she finished the though. “The old team?” she murmured.

The Doctor’s grin grew. She’d learn… and so would he and just to put an exclamation point to the thought he kissed her again.
