(no subject)
So I actually have incredible amazingly .. weird(?) news.
On the AOL welcome screen yesterday was an ad for this contest to win your own record label. Not contract - but a LABEL. Weird right? I didn't really understand how or why they'd do that, but I filled out this big long form yesterday around noon.
I got home from work at 5 and the phone was ringing. It was "Amber from the Biz" and I was like, Woah .. She interviewed me for about 25 minutes - a lot of elaboration on what I had already filled out on the form, and information about the first artist I would sign. I said without a doubt I knew who it would be - Nick Kruge. So, we talk for awhile, and then she asks me to send in a video of myself .. postmarked by FRIDAY. Yeah - Bad bad bad since I don't even have the right kind of camera, but we're trying to track one down.
So I have to film this 30 minute video. Why should they pick me. What have I already done to work toward this goal in my everyday life. What will be the very first band I'll sign, play their music, show them if I can. Show me negotiating some sort of deal. Find whom I consider to be the best witness to my character, business abilities, and knowledge of music and have them talk. And what separates me from all the other contestants.
So, after an exciting evening, I finally looked up more about this contest. It's an online reality show. WTF right? Weird. Well - IIIIIIF I made it, I would have to take the semester off and move to NY for up to 6 weeks. Thats bad news - but really, what an AMAZING opportunity.
I was reading the rules, and by being asked to send a video - I'm in the 3rd round already. In the first day I entered. Hahahah.
But seriously, its amazing sounding. Its run by AOL and the Warner Music Group. The president of Warner is the guy who will supervise all the labels and such, and the winner gets to actually run their own label, with his help.
Ok - I have never watched a reality show in my life. I hate them. I think they're terrible. But an ONLINE one? Its supposed to be short video clips everyday, and then me just keeping a blog, and updating pictures and such - helloooo thats what I do NOW.
So that gave me more ideas involving NYU and maybe perhaps I emailed the head of music business there. But its not like I could transfer for this semester so I guess it wouldn't aaaaactually help any .. Hmm.
But anyway, I'm filming a video for the next few nights. I figured out most of what I'll say. I think my deal I'll negotiate will be with my parents - to let me enter this contest. My dad was all pissy about the school thing, so we can replay that discussion in front of a video camera. Hehehe.
Also - there's a bee stinger in the bottom of my foot thats been there for two months and I didn't know and my mom is like, DON"T WALK! But I have to go get lunch .. :)
