A politician's holiday.

Deliberate.
Discuss your tactics
Voice your demands
Negotiate a settlement
And watch this land be
Scorched with indifference
Torn with strife
Engulfed in Plagues
Of the self righteous life
Now sit on your lawn
With children and neighbors
And watch fireworks
Burn up the sky.
Then lean over to your wife
And whisper in her ear
"Happy Fourth Of July!"
