Technological Idiot

I'm at work today and this guy comes up to me and says that he needs some help. He then proceeds to tell me that he has a problem with the version on Dumb and Dumber that he purchased and that this problem is that it when he plays it there are always subtitles on the bottom of the screen and he is looking for the version without them. I guess this was also the second copy of the movie he had picked up which had this problem.

My first response was "Did you go into the DVD menu and turn off subtitles - that will probably fix your problem, since there is all DVD's come with subtitle options - that's pretty much standard." The guy looked at me like I was speaking a foreign language. "The menu? Subtitle option?" So, I explained that DVD's have menus that allow you to turn such things on and off and that he should probably check that first before he picked up another copy of the DVD.

If I hadn't seen the guys physical response to me personally, I would have seriously thought he was pulling my leg. And it wasn't like this guy had the age excuse to fall back on - he was clearly in his 30's.

I swear, I think humanity is getting dumber.
