Well it ate my comment for a second time so imma just gonna give up. Three points in ultra brief: there's a good chance your neighbours haven't embraced fascism, they're simply unaware of the stakes (doesn't change the facts or threat, but does change the immediate climate); the results aren't quite the indictment they seem at first blush (ditto); and TFG may be wobbling on tariffs. Recent events with Mexico & Sheinbaum indicate he may be happy chest thumping if he can claim a victory, and considering his personality, if he can cause the markets to freak with his threats of tariffs under Biden, which he can, he might be happy to let them recover under his 'reign' and take a victory lap by backing off from a problem he alone created. Ego management resumes. It will be annoying, but not necessarily catastrophic. (His cabinet is a different matter.)
I'm glad you're feeling better, I'm very glad you're heading back home to saner pastures, and thrilled Oyster's situation is proving manageable. Please provide him with scritches for me.
I'd love to see pictures of the trees and shrubs and the place in Los Feliz, and I'd love to hear about the job opportunity. It sounds exciting. See, I can say that, because that's all you've said about it. 😆
What the hell, LJ, eating comments before I can even see them? greedy little piggo.
So many folx are unaware of the stakes. I saw that google searches for "how do I change my vote" skyrocketed the day after the election, lol. Also, "what is a tariff". Maybe someday people will do their homework before the final exam.
I think you could be very right about Trump taking the easiest route - it's his puppet masters I worry about. They've been building their media presence for a long time and so many people only get their info from places that are okay with lying their arses off - it's worrisome.
Oyster thanks you for the scritches and I thank you for writing! I am dying to get back into fandom for realsies, it is a part of my life that has been seriously amiss this last year. Hoping that when I get back to LA I will find some time where I can do my own thing without all the eyeballs I've been living with in AZ having their opinions.
