That's as political as I will get in this post! :D
Earth Beings with Similar Interests! I miss this space every day and my mental health is such that I do not come here and I don't know why that is. Leave your theories in the comments :D ( más )
Bobi looks great! One never knows, our Echo lived 6 years after her diagnosis, most of it in contented comfort.
Sorry about the troubles with the mini-split. (That sounds like something in floor exercise at the Senior Olympics) Our high-zoot horribly expensive heat pump is being a fool again. The muffler (whatever that is) on the outside unit is leaking coolant. Fortunately, the part itself is covered under warranty, and it's only going to cost about 1200 bucks for the labor! FTW.
Good luck with your resident councilor, I hope that you get an insightful and caring one.
Finding someplace that isn't hellish in summer is a tough thing nowadays, but I expect that AZ is hotter than most. Still, it's a dry furnace, innit?
Glad you are still not smoking, that has to help things some. If nothing else, it will save money. I remember when a pack of cigs cost a quarter.
Thanks, I am hoping Bobi will stick around a while yet. I'm curious about Echo, if you don't mind me asking - did you do chemo? or repeated chemo? The ER vet was really hyping it but I just don't have the money (the prices they quoted were astronomical) I sometimes wonder if they gave a 4 week prognosis to freak me out into getting the $chemo$...
I hope your heat pump is back in business soon! Lord the heat can just eff off. (It was only 100 today and I could actually tell. This isn't 112... looked at the weather app and was a bit horrified to be so accurate about something so uncool. In every way.
Echo did several rounds of chemo. She took chlorambucil, and it was stupid expensive, but Stokespharmacy.com, a compounding pharmacy, was MUCH less expensive. There are some other similar pharmacies as well. After a time, it started making her puke, and we switched to steroids, but the chemo was effective. Your vet would need to call in the scrip, of course. We are fortunate enough (if that term can ever be applied in these circumstances) to be near Auburn University's vet school/hospital. Their Oncology team is great. Of course, every case and every patient are different if similar. If push comes to shove, perhaps we, all of your LJ friends, can help a bit.
That makes sense that E hung out longer with chemo. Bobi has been on steroids and pain meds for 8 weeks now. He still loves his food though so that's a good sign I think. The ER vet said the chemo isn't that strong and they don't get sick like humans. I mostly don't want to put him through the stress of getting packed up and driven to the vet every week. Poor little mite
Aw thank you for that! My doctor is all, well I don't believe you've stopped forever, which made me more determined than ever to not go back. (was it a trick?) (if so, it worked)
Hi, dear! So glad you're holding up, although I imagine the heat is just incredibly debilitating. Crossing my fingers that you can be somewhere else by next summer.
I don't have a bucket list (for all sorts of reasons), but if I did have one, a fancy train ride in Scotland sounds like something that should be on it.
Thanks for checking in; we miss you!
ETA - I meant to say, too, that I think working with psych residents is a great idea. It's how I was able to afford therapy when I was in grad school - residents at the university's med school. They were very helpful.
So glad to see you back (and pleased as punch that my curmudgeonly comment brought you joy!).
Summer in AZ must be hotter than hell; I truly don't know how you manage. And I'm very glad you found a therapist you feel good about. The senior chap sounds most helpful, and I'm sure that if he has confidence in his students, so can we all.
Thank you for your warm comment, I am so glad to be back and I am going to try and do my best to keep it up. Even if I don't have much to report I have a million. memes LOL
By the way, there is a Hell's Canyon here - a hiking trail I think. Definitely a Winter adventure!

It's an incredibly appealing fancy train ride, I have to say. Incredibly expensive but one only lives once!
You really should join me :D
I'm really excited about getting some therapy help. I hope it can happen sooner rather than later
