john denver was an amazing singer/songwriter
before i wrote last night's journal entry, my three-year old daughter and i were watching a pbs documentary on john denver. i had forgotten how mesmerizing his voice really is. when he sang his songs, my daughter became quiet and watched, listened. his calming voice reminded me what music has meant to me for most of my life. i don't play an instrument, can't sing very well, but it doesn't matter to me. i can get lost in music.
maybe music holds the same magic for my baby girl. after listening for a while, laying on my bed, she sat up and said to me, "its hard to be alone." out of no where, I swear to God!
i've prayed since the day she was born that she would never have to experience the lonliness i felt all my life. no one to talk to about real stuff. its my hope she won't be alone in the world. she's got a smile that would make a whole room of people smile. and sweet. i call her my heaven. then she'll say, "no, I'm not you're heaven, I'm daddy's heaven." oh, baby girl, if only daddy knew what Heaven was.
