This is a true story about a kid who went to my school a few years back. It made my day to hear it. =)
Now, Steve was a junior at the time, and he was what you would call a "nerd." He watched Star Trek, had a pocket protector, all of that stuff. Now, he and his friends liked sit at their lunch table and play Uker (a card game). Now, also sitting in the lunch room, at a different table, were the football players. Every day one football player would walk over to Steve's table and rip up one of the cards, thus ruining the game. Then he would go back to his table and laugh with his buddies. At first, they ignored him. They each took turns bringing cards. Each day, however, that same football player would walk over and tear up a card. This went on for some time, and one Friday it was Steve's turn to bring in the cards. It was a Friday, and there was a football game that night, so all the football players were wearing their jerseys.
As usual, the football player walked up to Steve's table and tore up one of the cards. Well, Steve decided he'd had enough. He stood up and punched the football player in the face. The football player stumbled back and tripped over a chair, falling on the floor. He was holding his nose, and all he could say was, "I think you broke my nose!" The whole lunch room cheered.
Now, Mr. Hurley, a math teacher, had seen this and had to take the boys down to the office for fighting. As they were walking, Mr. Hurley patted Steve on the back. All the football player continued to say as blood dripped onto his football jersey was, "I think you broke my nose!"
Ahh, but it doesn't end there. Steve had to write an essay about how he could have handled the situation better. What did he write? Well, he said that he didn't think he could have handled it better. All the results, according to him, were positive: he got the football player to leave his table alone, and he experienced a major increase in popularity. That was his essay, written as a Star Trek mission log.
