I spent Christmas with a bunch of people who spoke mostly Russian; eating shishkabobs + gyros, drinking vodka strait up ("eht help with cold. Try! Try!"), and playing a card game they didn't explain the rules for. I got on the mic with the family early and Julia. It was a great way to spend it considering the constraints.
