Warnings Readers Will Find on Kynx_Fic & Why

The following metaesque rant is the subjective opinionated opinion of Kit84 and Jynnxx, we have next to no interest in telling other people what to do or how to do it, this is how we do it and why. Questions, alternate opinions and discussion is welcome.

Huh. *Bemused huh* I had no idea all this other stuff was going on. Never heard of "bandom", "bandflesh" (still don't quite know what that is, frankly, even after reading several articles on it just now) and the whole warnings, censorship, piling on dealio.

Jynx has a food "trigger" (another terminology just learned) - okay. I guess I do too, when the food is human flesh, anyway. (teasing here, it's difficult to convey that in typed words).

And I guess necrophilia is my other one. Yeah, I admit it, that one gives me the cold shivers at the base of the spine. Oh and spiders - did I mention spiders? Don't like 'em either. That one comes from my basement where I lived growing up. No, I didn't grow up in a basement, the basement of the house, silly. Spiders down there that wore combat boots. But I digress.

I had no idea this whole issue was really multiple issues all tangled up together and pulsating like a kind of cosmic stew. (Notes yet another squick - pulsating cosmic stew is to be avoided.) But yeah, I see that it is, and that everybody has their own opinion, no two alike, natch, since we're humans and no two of us are alike.

Anyway, this is a good posting. It made me think, and that can't be bad. It didn't give me a headache, which is definitely good. It made me feel really fluffy and silly when I think about my own writing, but I guess there's a place for light entertainment too.

I'll read warnings a lot more carefully from now on. I'll make sure my own warnings are as clear as possible. But I refuse to write cannibal necrophilia crack poke-em-in-the-eye deathfics.

Well, maybe everything but the necrophilia and cannibalism.

It doesn't taste like chicken.

ps - I'm not trying to make fun here, just trying not to sink into the pit of stress and depression I sank into yesterday, so plz to excuse attempt at lightening ups. Four made me do it.

Yeah, is kinda weird how these things circulate in fandom, had most of this post written as a response to the stuff happening a few months back and then it hit our little corner and I wished had posted last week or something but we didn't, so here it is now.

Jynx has food trigger, yes, hehe *oddity*

Spiders *shivers* I agree with you on that one too, (and the pulsating cosmic stew, lol!)

Awesome *bounces* am glad not to be giving you a headaches :D

*snickers* We will not make you write such things. If the warnings are not correct, or if the warnings are ambiguous then it's not really a case of paying attention, it's not reader responsibility, and if we hit something that triggers us and we weren't expecting it, I don't think any of us are gonna feel like being polite in requesting that the warnings are altered, because we are already wound up and angry. So, imo it's important not to get to that stage.

I have seen this on an author forum I visit too, where half the fandom thought a certain scene was rape and the other half didn't, but simply speaking, if half the fandom have a problem with a thing, then it is a problem, and adding a warning brings no harm and might help someone realize that they do not want to read such a thing. It's... I don't want to say manners, but if you are writing something that you know might be offensive then imo you have a responsibility to stop people from being upset by helping them to avoid reading it, did that make sense?

I know you're not making fun, I tried to keep this as light as I could while still (hopefully) making my point. I hate that you feel bad :( and I'm hoping if we can have some kind of open discussion, that we can avoid getting upset in the future.

Four has a lot to answer for *nods*
