No wonder I love her so much...

"...Hell, they didn't even think Nellie Olsen was 'mean'. They thought she was French."

~ Alison Arngrim, in reference to French 'Little House' fans
Confessions of a Prairie Bitch, p.271

(Grown-up Nellie and her adopted sister, Nancy)

Not only does this speak to why I love Nellie so much, I think it also may hint at why I have such an affinity for the French :p Also, the next time a complete stranger comes up to me and asks "Why do you look so mean?" (as they are wont to do on occasion), I believe I am perfectly within my rights to put on my best haughty, condescending demeanor, say, "I don't look mean, I look French", and walk away with my nose in the air. This is slightly classier than my normal response to date, which is usually something along the lines of, "Fuck you, you don't know my life!"

I've only got two chapters left until I finish this book, at which point I will post a proper review, but I couldn't resist posting this choice quote on it's own (another great one, "Yes, my father's childhood is the plot of Les Miserables. This explains a great deal!").
