As if I needed another reason to despise Facebook (and honestly, after a few short months of use I like it even less than MySpace), now they're censoring people for fairly innocuous nude doll photos? I'm sure most of my doll collector friends are already aware of this story, but if you are not, take note! I know I've seen nekkid dolly pix from many of you (tastefully done, of course) on more than one occasion.
Sydney Morning Herald:
Now Facebook bans doll nipples Facebook's prude police are out in force yet again, this time threatening action against a Sydney jeweller for posting pictures of an exquisite nude porcelain doll posing with her works.

But over the weekend she received six warnings from Facebook saying the pictures of the doll, which show little more than nipples, constituted "inappropriate content" and breached the site's terms of service...(Continued)
Here is the 'offensive' photo in question:
Now sure, most of us have no problem with this kind of image, but even in this day and age I've encountered people who think Botticelli's Venus is indecent, so it's perhaps understandable for FB to want to err on the side of caution, even if I don't particularly agree with their judgment call here. Also, the thought occurs that if this woman is using the doll in an ad campaign for human sized jewelry, she could just dress the thing, yes? I mean, yes it's a ridiculous cause for censorship, but the argument on both sides seems a little silly to me.
Facebook: You cannot show dolly nipples in a clearly non sexual context on our site!
Jewelry Lady: I cannot sell my jewelry without using dolly nipples to attract potential customers!
Flawed logic all around, in my opinion. Take a cue from the Victorians, drape the thing in a couple of layers of chiffon, and call it a day.
