Ehhhhhhhhh....'mainstream' as in an accepted part of the Goth underground and alternative fashion and 'mainstream' as in tweens hanging at the mall wearing goggles and necklaces made out of watch gears are two different things. I have yet to see the latter yet, but I have a feeling it's not far off...

That's true! I hadn't though about it, but the earlier FF games were waaaaaaay Steampunk, weren't they? I haven't played one since FFVIII, but I assume the airship is still a staple...
