I know I'm long overdue for a personal post, but who cares to hear about my recent purchases or domestic tribulations when there is new haute couture to discuss? No one! Well, there again perhaps the story of the falcon trapped in the supermarket deserves priority, but I don't feel up to reliving that drama at the moment (later, I promise!), so--
Dior! Mr. Galliano has given us a fine, fine collection this season. It is the first Dior show I have really loved in the past three years; in fact, I believe I can arguably call this is the strongest couture we have seen from the house since that seminal collection presented in the Orangerie at Versailles for
Fall 2007. Of course my partiality is due to the stylistic influences, which range from late Victorian equestriennes and Gibson Girls with a flavoring of John Singer Sargent, to Rococo flare by way of 1980's New Romantic, topped off with just the tiniest hint of the Bride of Frankenstein. Basically, top hats and riding habits, poofy hair and LACE. Of course I love it :p
Usually I'll lead off the photo section of my little fashion show reviews with the model who graced the catwalk with my favorite ensemble; this time however the place of honor goes to the man himself. Bravo Monsieur G.! More like this, please.
