Megantereon!
I promise this is the last cat-related post for a while--I should be getting back to the usual art/fashion/music/books/etc. soon--but I had to inform everyone that THIS is my new mascot:
I came across this wonderful creature while exploring the taxonomy of the cat family on Wikipedia (a topic about which I could expound upon at great length, but I will refrain). Megantereon was a prehistoric sabertoothed cat, which first appeared in the fossil record around 7 million years ago, and survived as late as 500,000 years ago, when they coexisted with early humans (watch out for those teeth, Homo erectus!). It basically looked like a lioness with a bobbed tail and leopard spots. Aside from the fearsome appearance, check out the kickass name! Clearly this is one of the greatest cats of all time.
