[The sudden separation of the groups may have been life ending to some, but upon reading the update via- well whatever the things were that were updating them- he felt a sense of relief. Eve was at least still on the same floor as him. Just in a different room. Scavenging through the room he occupied, Ash broken a wooden chair to make himself a make-shift weapon and started out to find her. Hours passed; he could hear sounds following him every time he had to use the hallway like a predator stalking its prey.
The sounds suddenly grew louder and louder like whatever it was that was behind him was chasing him. Turning a corner, he ran straight into Eve; both of them falling to the floor. Ash's heart about jumped from his chest; at first with fear and then with respite. He took a moment to hug and kiss her, but that was all the time they were given. The thumping that had been following him started again, ever closer. Grabbing her hand, he helped her off the floor before dashing through the halls.
Don't disturb me when I sleep even though your body aches
Even though your body aches to serve at his command

As their time in the haunted hotel stretched on, it was becoming more and more obvious that Eve was not what one might call a fighter. Oh, she was resourceful, and knew enough about self defense to get herself out of little scrapes, however her survival tactics were more in the 'run away' school of thought than the 'stand and fight' school. She had been depending on Ash for her survival, and she was sure that it was wearing on both of them. She definitely owed him more than a coffee after this.
They had been running from ghosts and ghouls for the past day and a half, and she was starting to think maybe their chances of making it out alive were dwindling. She'd never say that out loud though, feeling it was best to keep her lack of faith to herself. For now, she was clinging to his hand like he was the last man on Earth.

Ash held Eve's hand tight. He had been so skeptical of the danger he had warned her about, but after the past night, he had no doubts that the crazy bitch fates- or whatever they were- were out to get them killed. He was the one who was supposed to get people killed, not get killed himself. Eve had become someone for Ash to guard. She had given herself over to him freely after she witnessed her friend's death, and that was all Ash wanted from her- her to freely give into her desires rather than hide from them.
The thump of his heart pounded in his ears, but didn't cover up the sound of whatever it was that was chasing them down. Turning into a small alcove, he pulled her close to him. "Eve..." he whispered."I'm sorry I hadn't believed you about this before." He had said it before when he was 'consoling' her. Wrapping his arms around her shoulder and into her hair, He rested his forehead against hers. CHUNK, CHUNK, CHUNK. The noises were not far away now. Ash could see their breath solidify into clouds as the cold sunk in. CHUNK. Then it stopped. The sound just stopped.

Eve let Ash pull her close as she resisted the urge to burst into tears. She used to consider herself something of a strong woman- her original self having endured the pain of childbirth many times despite how excruciating it could be- but this mental and physical torture was spreading her reserves thin. Eve couldn't even begin to fathom what type of creature would get such pleasure out of putting them in these clearly dangerous situations repeatedly, but she knew that if there truly was a God then she would need to focus all her energies on trusting in Him to get them out alive.
The fact that he hadn't believed her wouldn't be held against him, since just a few months ago she wouldn't have believed herself either. She shook her head slightly, keeping her voice down as she responded. "It's alright, Ash, I understand. Do you think we'll be safe here?" If they weren't, she wasn't sure what she would do. Her legs ached from all the running and she doubted she could make it much farther without resting first.

Shaking his head, he pet her hair. "We shouldn't stay here." He peeked around the corner. There was nothing there any longer. He squinted into the darkness; had there been something there before? A soft light filled the other end of the room. They were in a room? Ash could swear they had just been in a hallway. Sliding his hand down Eve's arm he took her hand again. The light was warm and comforting, drawing him to it. "It looks like there may be a good hiding place over there. Bars usually have hidden compartments right?"
Bringing her hand up to his mouth, he kissed her knuckles; he natural instinct to try and calm people down even though his own heart was still loud. Running made him so exhausted and by her voice, he could tell Eve felt the same. He just wanted to sleep. As they approached, he saw two forms suddenly move at the edge of the light. The brief glimpse of long skirts flowing behind him made him pause. The fabric had been solid. "Did you see that? I think maybe some more of us are hiding in here." He whispered.

It was hard for her not to pout childishly when he informed her that they shouldn't stay there, but Eve knew better than to question him. Regardless of both Michael and Samael's warnings not to trust him so readily, Ash had already given her more reasons to feel he was on the up and up than Samael ever had- though part of Eve's unspoken grudge with the smirky archangel had more to do with his double than with the man himself. Her fingers instinctively tightened around Ash's when he took her hand, and while she didn't know enough about bars to be certain she nodded her agreement, assuming he was right.
The kiss to her knuckles caused her to blush, which, in light of everything else they'd done seemed ludicrous to her, enough so that she forgot her fear enough to laugh lightly at the incongruity of it all. Her attention was drawn back to the present when she heard the tail end what Ash was saying, and turned to look at what he might have seen. "I didn't, but if others are here that's probably a good sign."

Creeping forward, he tried to see into the darkness where they had gone. There were no windows in this room it seemed. Closer and closer, he started to feel his heart in his throat. "Hello?" He said only barely louder than a whisper. A single woman stepped from the shadows dressed in an old-fashioned maid uniform. Ash blinked, cocking his head to the side in confusion. "Hello?" He repeated in his normal voice. The woman looked scared to him as Ash let go of Eve's hand and continued to step forward. So this was the maid that kept the place stocked and clean? Ash didn't trust it. He was about to start circling her at a distance, looking for any wounds that looked fatal like creepy ghosts in movies had, when he felt a soft hand on his arm. Ash looked back expecting it to be Eve, but it was another maid. Her eyes were black as the abyss with only a distance light flickering somewhere behind it. "Who-" His question was cut off.
The first maid moved faster than the eye could see, appearing directly behind him with a metal wire. The wire was snaked around his neck in the next instance and pulled taut. Ash's fingers immediately went to his throat to try and pry the ever tightening wire from his neck. Sharp gasps of air were all he could get in or out. Desperately his fingers dug into his own skin just to get his grip around the weapon. His esophagus was being drawn closed and he could feel the blood running from the wire's wound. "Eve," he managed to get out. The room started spinning. Faster and faster, the golden light made streaks in the darkness. He couldn't think, all he could do was watch Eve's expression as the world went black.

Sticking close, she followed along behind Ash but paused as her attention was caught by the shadow of something moving behind the bar. When he let go of her hand it didn't register with her at first, as she was too distracted by trying to figure out who or what else might be in the room with them. Was it one of the people Ash mentioned seeing? She glanced towards him when he called out, confused as she didn't see anyone else there at first. Then, she noticed the woman- no, apparition- and froze where she stood. She watched in mute horror as the ghostly maid seemed to get Ash's attention, distracting him from the one that was coming up behind him. Eve tried to call out to warn him, but by then it was already too late. A soft gasp came from her lips, breaking the spell that kept her entranced. She rushed forward, grabbing a stool as she moved, swinging it at the ghost as she got close enough although she knew deep down it might not be effective.
As the stool got close enough where it seemed like it might actually hit the spectre it was suddenly stopped and wrenched from Eve's hands. She looked up, only to find herself staring into the pleasant and helpful face of a man who she could tell was no longer among the living. Just the sight of him gave her chills, but as she continued to stare into his eyes Eve got the feeling he was somehow ripping every single secret she'd ever kept in her life from her very soul. Everything- from the time she accidentally let her neighbor's kitty out to what she did with Samael's doppelganger seemed to be laid bare before him. Turning as if to run, she managed to get two steps away before she felt a clammy hand clamping down on her shoulder. She jerked slightly, trying to shake it off, but only succeeded in getting the very same stool she'd tried to use as a weapon used on her instead.]
